BMW M6 Scanning project

Here at 3D creationlab we are always interested in taking on exciting projects, especially when it is for a friend in a professional car restoration company. Nick Hobbis Restorations. Nick asked me to produce a rare vehicle body moulding from a Classic BMW M6, that was no longer from a main dealer.

I was pleased to oblige, and we have created a small video of the work carried out, first the scan, then into Rhino CAD to tidy up the scan, then into Materialise Magics to validate the STL file. We then put the file into one of our 7 3D printers and printed it out on the Stratasys F370 in Black PLA.

The model was then painted and compared to the original, you could not tell which was the copy, so the 3D printed part was put in place as the final section the video depicts.      https://youtu.be/7MYE5uEbh_Q
